Update on Bike-In Movie Series

September Movie will be The Triplets of Belleville

After letting everyone know about last night’s Bike-In Movie, I got an e-mail from Warren McKinney over at Art Seen letting me know about the next installment to give everyone a chance to put it on your calendar.

Here are the details:

September Free Bike-In Movie

Les Triplettes de Belleville (2003)
aka “The Triplets of Belleville”
Rated PG-13; 78 min; Sylvain Chomet

2 screenings
- Monday, September 8th, 8pm at the Spider House Cafe, 2908 Fruth St (map)
- Tuesday, September 9th, 8pm at Sustainable Waves 4704 E Cesar Chavez St (map)

If you’ve not seen this film, I highly recommend it. While it is about cycling and the Tour de France, in the end it is about a child and his grandmother, their bonds, and what they will go through for each other. It is in French without subtitles, but there is so little dialogue that it does not take away from the story. If you like the films of Japanese animator Hayao Miyazak (of Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle), you’ll really like this film.

I plan on taking the kids in the bike trailer. I hope to see you there.

What a great film. My 16-month-olds have no interest in it (we played the DVD for them) but I may have to show up solo.
