Maybe it’s the fact that when I rode with my kids to daycare this morning it was 70 degrees and dry instead of 80 and humid. Perhaps it was reading ATXBS announcing the beginning of cyclocross season. Or it could have been sitting in the stands watching the UT football team last Saturday devour the latest season opener sacrificial lamb. Still another possibility is my son’s constant discussion of what he will wear for Halloween (for far we are rotating daily between Spiderman, Captain America, Buzz Lightyear, and a pirate.)
Whatever it was, today on my ride to work I finally felt that sense that fall is on its way. Now living in Austin, I’m not kidding myself into thinking we’ll get any truly autumnal weather for another 6-8 weeks. My sweaters are still safely packed away in the top of my closet. Having said that, something clicked in my mind this morning that got me thinking fall is coming and the 6 month Texas summer will finally come to an end. The dog days of summer are having their last parade and the refreshing change of seaon is coming. I can’t wait.
