I just found this great video below of a cyclist buzzing by a ridiculously long line of cars waiting to fill up at a gas station in Atlanta.
So, I don’t know what is more comical, that people would see no other option other than wait in line for hours to feed their metal and rubber beast or that we have failed as a country to build cities that would make it easy for people to take care of their most basic needs without a car.
I guess the joke is on America.

Any clue why the line for gas was *so* long there?

There is currently a gas shortage in the Southeast U.S. due to refineries shut down by Hurricane Ike. Many stations have no gas or are limiting gas purchases to $20. There are reports of people following gas trucks around and waiting over an hour to fill up. Unfortunately, the idea of living without driving your car everywhere does not compute with a suburban sprawl city like Atlanta. This ought to be a wake up call to everyone that we need to change how we do things in this country, but the only response I’ve heard is “Drill, baby, drill.” Blah.
