We’d like to congratulate Jason Abels over at the local bike blog ATXBS on winning a “Best of Austin” award from the Austin Chronicle this year.
The Chron says:
The clean-lined blog is a treasure trove of timely listings for stuff like Critical Mass rides, nighttime group cruises, underground alley-cat races, and pub crawls. Blogger Jason Abels doesn’t just talk the talk, either. He’s a fixture at most local cruises and guerrilla rides, typically supplying jams via a custom, bike-mounted sound system or a bigass boom box in tow.
ATXBS is a great blog on local Austin bike culture and my daily go-to to see what bike related events are going on in Austin. As a father of two little one’s, I don’t get to get out to these events as much as I want, and I’m grateful Jason is keeping the cycling community up-to-date on the development of this growing, changing part of Austin.
We highly recommend our Austin readers add ATXBS to their daily fix of bike related reading. Check it out!

Thanks for the congrats, and the glowing endorsement. It was great to meet you at the TdF the other day, I’m bummed I didn’t stick around longer to say hi to Marcus as well, but it ended up being for the best since I was around to put out a tree fire.
I’m glad to see other bike blogs (such as y’alls) popping up and being consistently maintained, frequently updated, and carrying a high quality of writing. A year ago I started my blog almost out of desperation, now Austin’s in a much better place. I know of another big blog starting up next month, Marsha Ungchusri’s GoBikeAustin.org. Between your commuter, national news and product reviews, the rides and events I advertise, and the wide-reaching coverage Marsha is planning (“advocacy, transportation, racing, and recreation”), the Austin bike community has a wide breadth of information at its’ disposal.
I guess I’m trying to say THANK YOU for your contributions. The more blogs, more coverage, more butts on bikes, the better for everyone.

thanks jason. Now, of course, there will always be some overlap between all of our blogs… sounds like there will definitely be some overlap between us and Marsha’s blog also, in the transportation and advocacy especially (wait ’til we officially announce a little more about that petition we were circulating at TDF!).
But that’s OK! The more the merrier, for sure.
