I’m a little late in the afternoon getting this week’s Dumbest Product of the Week up since this is the busiest time of year for my day job, and Marcus and I decide to add the Austin Bike Plan Petition on top of that. Still, I do not want to disappoint our readers by skipping another week of what has become a catharsis for our consumeristic society.
This week’s nominee comes surprisingly comes from Great Britain, a country I thought had more sense when it came to producing products for the consuming public. Unfortunately, good old American know-how has jumped the pond and provided us with another truly silly product.
Electrocution with your soft serve anyone?
I present to you the Rotating Ice Cream Cone by Kitchen Craft. For those who are mentally limited or too lazy to turn your own ice cream cone, Kitchen Craft has this little green, purple, or red beauty for you, marking further iMacinzation of everything in our lives. Plus it’s dishwasher safe so you can waste more energy AND some water when you’re done.
I have to say that the fact that this contraption has a 1 year warranty is quite entertaining. Still, considering this product is an electronic and made by the same country that made my favorite lawn ornament, the MG convertible, this may be prudent.
At a time when many are wondering if they’ll ever be able to make their mortgage payments and seeing their retirement investments mettle away, it seems odd that stuff like this are still for sale. I mean at £5 we are not talking Neiman Marcus Christmas Book silly, but still it makes you wonder. Kitchen Craft claims their products “represent excellent value for money.” Don’t things have to be desired by someone, anyone, to have any value?
Well, I think we can all show what we value by skipping over this over-designed plastic piece of crap and enjoying the wholesome goodness of a plain old waffle cone. That is if the battery on our mechanized food consistency preparer hasn’t run out.
