Thursday, November 13

November Full Moon Cruise

Friday, November 14

City Forum Panel on Bicycle Research

City Forum is a planning and urban issues speaker series hosted by the Community and Regional Planning Student Organization (CRPSO) and the Community and Regional Planning Program (CRP) at the University of Texas at Austin. Many regard planning for bicycle transportation as an essential element in creating sustainable cities, improving public health, and providing for transportation choices. This panel will explore recent research into ideal configurations for bicycle facilities, the state of planning efforts at the City of Austin, and bicycle advocacy in the Austin area. Panelists will have the opportunity to address the interaction between research, planning, policy, and advocacy. Speakers include Dr. Randy Machemehl, Director of the Center for Transportation Research, Annick Beaudet, Project Manager at City of Austin Bicycle and Pedestrian Program, and Rob D’Amico, President of the League of Bicycling Voters. The Forum us FREE and lunch is included with a vegetarian option.

Saturday, November 15

The good folks at Austin’s Yellowbike Project now have a tent set up at the Austin Farmer’s Market each Saturday with general information, t-shirts, and access to a full tool kit and repair stands for your basic bike maintenance needs. Starting this week, they are starting a series of workshops to help you learn basic bicycle self-sufficiency. This week is fixing a flat with upcoming workshops on brake and shifter adjustment and pannier building. Look for the Tent Revival Bike Choir at 11 AM after the November 29 workshop. YBP asks that you please register here so they can prepare enough materials for each workshop.

Frankenbike #40- Frank turns forty!

Austin’s semi-regular bike parts swap is back. Need a saddle or set of pedals to finish off that project bike? Have a box of never used or lightly used bike parts in the garage your significant other wants you to get rid of? Frankenbike is your answer. Stop by for a bit or stay all afternoon to hawk you wares. As always, admission is free, recycling great stuff is priceless.

On September 28th this year, cyclist Chris Davis was stuck and killed while riding his bike on FM 969(MLK). His Aunt has set up a tax ID for a Non-profit Org. in his name.

Dirty Derby Cyclocross race series
Registration begins 6 PM, First race at 6:30, Austin/Del Valle Motorcross Park, 15400 Pearce Ln, Del Valle

Discover the fastest growing type of bike racing in America, cyclocross. Ride yourself into oxygen debt on road and off road while also dismounting occationally to carry your bike. It’s way more fun than it sounds. This series with beginner, intermediate, and open races runs every Tuesday until January 6.

Midnight Ridazz – STOP! Hammer ride!
9 PM, Donn’s Depot (5th and West Lynn)

If you made it to the Dirt Derby and back, you definitely deserve a beer. The Midnight Ridazz Pub Crawl is your chance to dress up silly in each month’s theme and enjoy good brews, good company, and a leisurely ride.  November is HAMMERTIME! Break out your parachute pants, that glittery jacket, the mesh shirt you said you’d never wear again, some cheezy gold-rimmed glasses, but most importantly bike on down to Birds Barber Shop for a haircut. The ride’s gonna be TOO LEGIT, TO LEGIT TO QUIT!!! (hey, hey)
