Monday will see the first test of the Nashville Traffic and Parking Commission. A business has requested to park in a bike lane on a certain block. We are trying to discourage it. Please help my emailing your comments to nauri.lenderman@nashville.gov and ask that your comments be considered at the hearing.

Here is the link to the area being considered: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&geocode=&q=Meridan+st&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=51.576045,78.574219&ie=UTF8&near=Douglas+Ave,+Nashville,+TN&ll=36.193889,-86.766533&spn=0,359.990408&z=17&layer=c&cbll=36.193881,-86.766427&panoid=uyIoOyDUF0Yvsztgb0wHvQ&cbp=12,274.3790320148749,,0,15.460020425679152

Stumbled upon this while researching about bicycle advocacy (I am thinking about starting a state wide group). Thanks for the link and promo of our efforts. We are working as hard as we can.

Nashville's "No-Parking in Bike Lanes" ordinance passed city council's second reading last night. It will go to council for third reading (final) on December 2, which generally serves as a formality. Keep in mind, we may pass this law, but our Public Works department is rooted with good ole boys who will utilize the back door and abuse their power by placing "Parking Allowed (during certain times) signs where ever they choose. It's a big political battle here in Nashville. Every time we do something to make it more bikeable, PW finds a way to reverse it.
