With the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow, we will be doing our round-up of bike culture events a day early. I’ve also included events through next Saturday as there is a particular event I want to make sure you don’t miss. As always, thanks to ATXBS for helping provide listings for the calendar of events. Happy Turkey Day, everyone.

Gobble Wobble – Thanksgiving Alleycat Race
Meet at 10 AM, Race 10:30-12:30, Lamar Street/Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge
An informal in town race and scavenger hunt, alleycat races are a blast and not to be missed. This race, started years ago by the staff at Bicycle Sport Shop, is open to all and should be great as car traffic will be at a minimum. Worst thing you can do is not show. Best thing? Come dressed as a gigantic turkey. Ride any bike you wish; just make sure you can carry some stuff! So pop your turkey in the oven at 350º and head out for some alleycattin’.

November Critical Mass
5 PM, West Mall on the University of Texas campus
The last Friday of each month means Critical Mass time. Now that you’re stuffed with turkey and football, ride it off counter culture style. This bike jamming ride designed to shout to the world that bikes belong had over 400 participants last month and in September took a peaceful ride on the upper deck of I-35. You never know what will happen, but don’t miss this foundation of the Austin bike culture we know today.
