Earlier this week, we reported on how the Secret Service has banned bikes from the Obama Inauguration festivities as ”items determined to be a potential safety hazard.” While this is a slap in the face to cyclists, all is not lost. Washcycle, a Washington D.C. cycling blog, posted a story today with video of D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty riding in the back of a pedicab and declaring the pedicab the “Official Vehicle of the 2009 Presidential Inauguration.” Mayor Fenty is an avid cyclists and wants to make our nation’s capital more cycling friendly.
So if you are heading to the big show, while you won’t be able to ride your bike there you will be able to grab some emission free transport with the D.C. pedicabs.
Update: I received word from Ken Cameron over at Austin Pedicab Alliance that in fact several of the folks in this video as well as the camera work were done by pedicabbies from Austin. Way to go guys, and stay warm up there this week!

Ok so I lent my pedicab out to a friend to take it to DC, I got a text message the other day saying “The mayor of DC just rode your pedicab”
… I thought that was cool… I had no idea he meant HE RODE MY CAB!
AWESOME..
Oh and its official now, that’s the fastest cab in the states!
