Rob D’Amico writes in support of the Lady Bird Lake Hike & Bike Trail extension at the Bicycle Austin Blog. We will have a bit on this soon too.

The blog for cleaning product Grease Monkey Wipes posted a bit about Lance’s bike being stolen, just as we did on Sunday. Anyone else quite surprised that they didn’t have better security? These are pretty valuable machines we’re talking about.

Will one of  the country’s worst cities for cycling start to get better? It might. Mia Burke, former bike coordinator for Portland, is now  consulting with the City of Dallas.

The Austin Chronicle finally reports on infamous accused bicycle thief James Clayton. If you would like to read even more of the same ten facts or so, go for it! Actually I’m kidding, they have a few more tidbits that haven’t been reported elsewhere.

Amsterdamize reports on yet another “tweed ride” – this one in San Francisco. I think we could do this here in Austin, but only perhaps on one of the coldest weeks of the year…

The New York Times says electronic shifting is here, for performance bicycles. I have to ask why we have this urge to add electronics to every damn thing in our lives.

Lastly, from the Department of Redundancy Department, Road Rash at Austin360 reports on the Light Lane, which you may remember was our Dumbest Product of the Week winners just a few weeks ago. I’ll take a real lane over a light lane any day.

Update from Elliott: I just wanted to throw in one more article for the round up. Ecovelo has a good article on why bicycle racing is not the answer to getting more people to use their bikes for transportation. I’m an avid racer and bike commuter, but I have to say I agree with their statement “this seems a little like crediting NASCAR for an increase in automobile use.” Bike infrastructure, not stage races, gets people riding.
