Not to be outdone by yesterday’s announcement about a potentially carfree Market Street in San Francisco, today’s Wall Street Journal reports that Times Square in New York City(!) will be going sans car as well.
In May, the city plans to close Broadway to vehicles between 47th and 42nd streets. The mall will feature cafe tables and benches.
Streetsblog reports with an in-depth feature including great graphics of how the transformation on Broadway will look.
What is the world coming to? More space for people to interact with each other and less space for huge fast-moving vehicles, apparently.
