I recently reviewed over three dozen cycling podcasts to come up with a list that I feel represent the best ones out there. Keep in mind this is my opinion, yours may vary.
If you have others that you think our readers would enjoy, suggest them in the comments.
The bikescape podcast: long-running audio podcast based in San Francisco. Audio podcasts about cycling can be hard to follow at times, but they also put short video clips on their site. Interestingly, this is the podcast that most reminds me of listening to NPR. The segments are very long, so there are bound to be some slow parts here and there. Overall a good show.
CrankMyChain! Cycle TV: hosted by Dan Kaufman, this is probably the most polished and professional feeling bike video podcast out there. Segments are short but highly entertaining and have interviews with cyclists and “movers and shakers” in the industry. It’s accompanied by even more content at their website. This one along with FredCast below are my favorites.
FredCast Cycling Podcast: a real radio show for cyclists complete with product reviews, interviews, stories and a lot more! Very entertaining, very polished. Billed as “The Internet’s premier cycling podcast” and it shows. These guys cover the whole gamut from commuting to racing to advocacy. To me, this is the podcast that most resembles us at Austin On Two Wheels.
The Spokesmen Cycling Roundtable Podcast: this is somewhat of a sister site to FredCast and features some of the same people. The podcast covers a great mix of racing and commuter info and the “round table” effect of having multiple speakers in different locations keeps the show fast-paced and interesting.
Tri Talk Triathlon Podcast: it is what it sounds like, an audio podcast for serious competitive triathletes. This podcast delves into every detail, from hydration to improving your USAT ranking to optimizing every bit of your performance. Very polished podcast.
Two Johns Cycling Podcast: covers the professional racing scene. Good source for news and interviews, but to be honest it’s a little slow. You have to be very interested in order to enjoy this one. Audio, but there are also video clips at their site.
Abillionbikes.tv: this video podcast features maintenance, profiles of bikes, riders, events and more. Feels like a nature show at times, and the voiceovers can be fairly cheesy but this is a good podcast. Unfortunately seems to be no longer updated (since 2007) but the past episodes are still worth watching.

Mike,
I listen to Two John’s all the time, and they are great. Then again, I’m a bit of a roadie so it’s my style.

I’m not a roadie so I felt myself falling asleep a little during the “racing talk” section of the Two Johns podcasts I listened to. That said, I’ve overheard other parts a few times while Elliott has been building bikes in the workshop and was more entertained. The listener question segment is great.

I may also do a second roundup soon as some of these are defunct now and I’ve discovered a few more good ones like the KBOO radio show from Portland.
