Learn to build your own frames from Doug Fattic

Long time readers of the site will remember I took a framebuilding class in December from master framebuilder Doug Fattic. I also positively reviewed the class here.

Well, Doug is teaching some more classes and has had a cancellation for his April class. The only downside is you’ve got to get yourself to Niles, Michigan for two weeks (about 2 hours from Chicago by Amtrak.)

Here’s the message Doug sent out:

For those of you that are seekers of knowledge, I’ve got one opening in a 2 week class April 20 to May 1. One of my 3 students had to cancel because they lost their job. The cost is $1400 + materials (typically $400).

For those of you that can not afford either the time or money for a 2 week class, I have an Intro to Framebuilding class May 18 to 20. I’ve got one opening left in that class as well. This will at least get you started in the right direction. The cost is $350 + materials.

I’m teaching 2 two week classes this summer in July and August with one opening still available. A number of people have shown serious interest but not so much as to have sent me a deposit.

Doug usually asks for a $400 deposit on the full classes with the balance due on your arrival. It really is a steal compared to the UBI classes. Also, he does offer a house on the property to stay in for $100/week.

Want to test your metal? (Ugh, what an awful pun!) Contact Doug at (269) 684-6761 or fatticbicycles@qtm.net to sign up.
