Bicycle News Roundup, 4/04/09

It’s been a long while since we’ve done a Bicycle News Roundup around here! Every time I start to put one together it seems like the stories are big enough to merit their own post. While you’re enjoying this beautiful weekend, be sure and check out these notes:

We might be behind our peer cities in bike infrastructure right now but there’s one thing we’re ahead on: Bicycle Cops. Surprisingly, Copenhagen just got their first bike-riding police, Copenhagenize reports.

MTBR has a few pages of bike porn and info on the San Diego Custom Bicycle Show. We don’t write much about mountain biking here but I think we should try to.

Texas Tailwind reports on Fat Cyclist’s charity ride that takes place… indoors. Normally that wouldn’t be too exciting (better have a well-stocked iPod, I say) but it’s also a benefit for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

My last link for today is local: MTB Law Girl covers a proposed law making new driver’s license testees to actually know something about sharing the road with bikes.

The point about having questions on driver’s license tests is SO important now. We try to share the roads, but so many drivers are unaware that they should share the roads with us! I would hate to think that they simply refuse to share them, but that they just don’t know the right ways. I hope that more and more states consider this in their tests. As more and more of us go green and ride our bikes, it becomes more of a problem if it is not addressed by the states.
