Safe Passing Bill Passes in Texas Senate

The Bicycle Sport Shop blog is reporting that the Texas Senate passed the Safe Passing bill on a 28-2 vote. The bill requires driver to give 3 feet distance to cyclists when passing and has been the main legislative objective of BikeTexas this session. The bill had been stuck in committee due to long, drawn out floor session fight over the Voter ID bill. BSS blog is reporting that Senators Rodney Ellis (D-Houston) and Dan Patrick (R-Houston) worked with BikeTexas to shepherd the bill through. Now onto the House and hopefully past our veto happy, secessionist Governor.

Any chance we can move that Gov election up to May 9th? Veto Perry looks to be in true form with his slicing and dicing of any bills that make it.
