The City of Austin Public Works Department has put out this statement regarding the 3rd Street Bridge and bikeway to Town Lake being closed next week:
The Shoal Creek trail from the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail to the 3rd Street bicycle and pedestrian bridge over Shoal Creek at Nueces will be closed for approximately one week during the time period from Tuesday June 9th to Tuesday June 23rd as part of the decommissioning of the Green Water treatment plant. Signs showing the closure location will be posted along the hike and bike trail during construction to inform users of alternative routes. Every effort has been made to keep the time of the closure as brief as possible. When it is safe to do so, the trail will be opened during the workday and at night.
