ATXBS is reporting that a weekly Gold Sprints series called 42Below Gold Sprints has started up and will be running every few days through mid August. If you are not familiar with Gold Sprints, it is an indoor race where two bikes on trainers are set up next to one another and riders sprint against each other for fame and glory. An open source program called OpenSprints projects the speed and virtual distance covered up on a screen for the crowd to watch and cheer. Consider it the ultimate spectator friendly bike competition.
UrbanVelo wrote about them in a recent issue, and they sound like a blast. There was a night of Gold Sprints during South by Southwest, but I missed out. Now’s my chance for another shot.
UPDATED GOLD SPRINT LOCATIONS, TIMES AND DATES:
7/27 at Six Lounge, 6pm- 10pm
7/28 at Eden (San Antonio), 6pm-9:30pm
7/29 at Beso Cantina, 10pm- 12mid

Thanks, Rob. I’ve updated the story and calendar. I’m assuming you meant the latest dates to be August, not July.
