Anderson Lane update from another great local tri blog

I recently got an e-mail from Heather Herrick, the author of the local triathlon blog Windy Possibilities. She wanted to let people know that Anderson Lane has been resurfaced and bikes lanes added.

From today’s post:

Today was my first day to ride on Anderson Lane. They resurfaced and restriped Anderson and they put in a new bike lane! Anderson is pretty busy and traffic is fairly fast so I have never ridden on Anderson with the traffic. But I cross Anderson twice every day on my way to and from work. I had to wait and wait and wait for an opening in traffic every night (morning traffic isn’t so bad), but now I can just go to the light and ride a few blocks in the bike lane on Anderson to my turn. Cool! Thank you City of Austin!

Heather has been writing for the past couple years, but I’m embarrassed to admit that I’m just finding her blog. It’s a great write up of Heather’s training and races (she apparently competes in just about every local  triathlon) with lots of picture. Check it out.

What was the lane diet in this case? It was 5 not-so-wide lanes to begin with in that part of town…. usually lane diets here are 4 to 3.

I live in the neighborhood. It’s still 5 lanes but the center turning lane is VERY narrow, as is the inside travelling lane. I don’t mind it actually, and hope it’ll slow the traffic around here down a bit.
