The Austin Yellow Bike Project has been feverishly raising money at frequent events all summer and through a new microlending Bike Bonds campaign. All of this is helping them close in on the $300,000 needed to build a new shop on Webberville Road. In their latest newsletter, YPB reports that they have raised over $46,000 in micro loans, are less than $80,000 from their goal, will be signing a lease for the land with the City of Austin in the next two weeks, and will soon be hiring a construction contractor. Sound like things are moving along nicely.
Just as importantly for the fashion conscience, the Yellow Shirt Project has returned after a summer slumber with a new shirt for August. The fundraiser for YBP releases limited addition shirts designed by local artist. This month’s design is by Michael Sieben.
