Safe Routes to School, a project of the Austin/ Travis County Health and Human Services Department, works with schools and communities to increase walking and biking to school safely. This is achieved through education and promotion efforts such as media campaigns, promotional activities & contests, educational presentations, and community involvement. This is a non-infrastructure project which does not include building sidewalks, crosswalks, or other infrastructure projects.
