Austin on Two Wheels would like to officially welcome our latest site sponsor, VO2 Triathlon and Cycle, who joined as a site sponsor in mid-August. If you are a cyclist, triathlete, swimmer, or runner in Northwest Austin, you’ve got a much shorter drive to fulfill your triathlon needs. They are also one of Austin’s F.I.S.T certified bike fitters which is the only way to go in my opinion if you are looking for a good tri bike fit.

Here’s a little bit more about the shop and its owners from VO2 co-owner Camila Morais.

VO2 Triathlon & Cycles is a new shop located at NW Austin. Our main focus is triathlon, but we serve all the cycling community. In our shop you’ll find all the essencial and high quality bike parts and accessories, as well as products that are very popular among triathletes, such as aerobars, rear hydration systems, aero drinking systems, hydration belts, swimming goggles, bouys and kick boards, running shoes and many other accessories.

Kestrel bikes, SIDI cycling shoes, AVIA running shoes, ZOOT, Descente, Ryders eyewear, Xlab, Profile Design, Shimano, SRAM, Oval Concepts and Vision by FSA

Our shop has a full bike repair workshop (although we currently don’t service shocks and hydraulic brakes). For bike fitting we follow the F.I.S.T. protocol of Dan Empfield, founder of Quintana Roo, the first bikes designed to be triathlon specific. We are certified fitters by Slowtwitch.

I  own VO2 with Gustavo Pinheiro, and we both have an engineering background and are triathletes (Gustavo is an Ironman competitor and Camila  is training for the Longhorn 70.3 this fall). Also one of the members is certified bike tech by United Bicycle Institute . Both of us ran the Chicago marathon in 2006 and 2007.

We are originally from Brazil and have been living from 2004 to 2008 in Puerto Rico. In September 2008 we were in Austin for a business travel and fell in love with the city. In December that same year we moved to Austin and decided to open a tri shop. We welcome you to come visit our shop and let us help you get out riding and racing.
