Friday Film Fun: Mullet inspired cyclocross skills with Martin Eadon

OffTheRoadChart

Mr. Eadon provides highly technical information like this chart.

With the start of the Dirt Derby series this week, it’s time to dust off your cyclocross skills or find some if you never had any. I mentioned earlier this week a VeloNews ‘cross tutorial video, but came across this gem from the late 80s by British racer and coach Martin Eadon called Off the Road. Sure the clothes are dated and the soundtrack sounds like it was ripped off from The Terminator, but there is some really good footage of how to practice cyclocross technique. Probably the coolest part of this video is the bunny hop practice board that is easily fabricated for injury free practice. Just be warned that Mr. Eadon may be competing against you if you plan on racing the 1989 British National Cyclocross Championship.

Sit back and enjoy this 5 part series and get yourself out to the Dirt Derby on Tuesday nights.

(Warning: Most of this first part is an off road montage set to synthyzed drums and discussion of 1980s British cyclocross. Skip to about 5:15 for useful information.)
