Commuter Challenge starts this week, Weirdest commute contest Sept 18

Most of you may be familiar with CAMPO (Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization) as the entity in charge of building most our highways, but they also have staff and programs dedicated to getting people out of their cars and onto bikes, buses, and eventually, next week, next month, next year some day Metrorail. Part of this program is the annual Commuter Challenge where you sign up and log your alternative commuting miles for a chance to win prizes like iPods, solar panel backpacks and mini-laptops. The Challenge is running September 7-19 and you can sign up anytime to be part of the challenge. Of course if you need help getting started commuting by bike, take a look at our Biking for Transportation section.

What an awesome idea. Further proof that Austin is a great example of a forward-thinking city. http://tinyurl.com/ndb8ze
