Friday Film Fun: David Byrne Bike Racks

David Byrne will be here on Sunday evening for the free round table discussion at the Paramount called Cities, Bicycles and the Future of Getting Around. In addition to his recent book Bicycle Diaries, Byrne also designed some arty bike racks for New York City. To get warmed up for Sunday enjoy this Wall Street Journal interview where in addition to being flummoxed in explaining powder coating and getting lost on the way to his workshop, Byrne shows off some of the cool designs.

I like David B’s music (a lot) and I think he’s a very eloquent writer, if his reviews in the New York Times book section are to be taken as evidence, but his bike rack designs are a little too cutesy and not practical enough. See:
