While this wet weather has been a blessing to our drought stricken region, it has been a curse for the Dirt Derby. For the fifth week in a row, the extremely muddy conditions of the Dirt Derby track has caused the weekly race series to be cancelled.
Due to the wet track (again) this week’s Hammerhead Bicycles Dirt Derby has to be cancelled (again). Ladies Night is still on for next week weather permitting and there will be a surprise you will not want to miss!
The rumor is that if we face the possibility of this happening again next week, the race organizers are going to move the race to another venue until the track dries out. Stay tuned for updates.

Meanwhile, Daniel at Thy Neighbor’s Bike and James at CycleBum have stepped up again to put on a more informal ‘cross race, the Alleycross, tonight. While I was unsuccessful at racing my Xtracycle last week, show up with a cyclcross or mountain bike, and you’ll be fine. Meet up at 6:30 this evening at the Lamar Blvd Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge and head out with the group at 7 PM. The racing will begin at 7:30 and costs $5. Fabulous prizes may or may not be involved but the ultimate prize will always be on the line.
