The Tour de Fat, a one day celebration of the bike, is this weekend, and in addition to being a whole lot of fun, the New Belgium Brewery donates all the beer sales to local cycling organizations. In our case, that means Austin Yellow Bike Project, Austin Cycling Association, and Austin Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club. In return, these organizations help provide the volunteers to make the event flow smoothly.
The Austin Ridge Riders put out this volunteer request:
The New Belgium Tour de Fat is one our favorite events of the year. As usual, the club needs volunteers. LOTS of volunteers.
We need a total of 50 fun-loving, bike-riding, positive attitude people to help us help New Belgium.
As we did last year, the Austin Ridge Riders are responsible for the morning bike parade, parade registration and providing Bike Marshals and we will be manning one of the merchandise booths.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear a crazy costume. Pull out that multi-colored afro wig, those leather or bell-bottom jeans and strut your stuff!
If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Laura at arrclubnews@yahoo.com. We’ll need to know which position and what shift you are available for and your t-shirt size for your commemorative TdF shirt.
Here’s where and when you can help out:
Parade Rider Registration – 20 Volunteers needed
SHIFT: 8:30 am – 10:30 amParade Marshals – 20 volunteers needed (Yes! You’ll need your bike for this assignment)
SHIFT: 9:30 am – 11:30 amMerchandise Booth Worker – Two shifts (20) total volunteers needed
SHIFT A: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm 10 volunteers
SHIFT B: 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm 10 volunteers
