An A2W reader just sent me a link to the Hill Country Randonneurs. Randonneuring is a form of very long distance unsupported touring that became popular in France after World War II. Rides are called brevets, and the riders go distances of 200-600K over a weekend. While it is technically not a race, riders still check in at points along the ride to sign a ledger with their times. Completing rides like these are required to qualify for the most famous brevet, Paris-Brest-Paris.
It looks like the Hill Country Randonneurs have a brevets scheduled about every month starting in December with a 200K ride. They peak with a 400-600K in May. If you have a hankerin’ to go long, check these guys out.
