In a followup to yesterday’s post about creating a Nueces Street Bike Boulevard and next Wednesday’s design open house, StreetFilms just released this great video of what makes bike boulevards work and the idea of creating living streets, streets for people instead of streets for cars.
Also included was a link to a guide book for bike boulevard design co-written by former Portland Bicycle Coordinator and former Austinite Mia Birk. It is a great read if you are planning to attend the Nueces Street Bike Boulevard Open House next Wednesday, December 9 at 6 PM at Pease Elementary School, 1106 Rio Grande St.
If you can’t make it and still want your voice heard in support of this great bicycle infrastructure, the League of Bicycling Voters have some suggestions on how to get involved.

Good video…although the New York commentary completely confused me until I got to the end.
Also, notice how so many cyclists–even on the bike boulevards–ride closer to the right, include parked cars. Why aren’t they in the center of the lane?
