A2W Survey is in, winners announced

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Austin on Two Wheels reader survey. Last week we drew from participants, and Austinite Amy Dolejs won our Flashbak giveaway and Jeff Gjertsen won the Velo Orange leather saddle. We’ll leave the survey up through the end of January in case you didn’t get to participate, and you want to give us some feedback.

Here are some highlights of the results of the survey:

  • The old saying is true: the number of bike you need is equal to one plus the number you have. 59% of you own three bikes or more.
  • A majority of you ride road and mountain bikes with a sizable number riding commuter/utility bikes. 76% of you ride your bike for transportation or to commute.
  • You really love to ride: 90% of you ride a few times per week or everyday and 54% of you ride 50 miles per week or more.
  • Many of you paid us some very nice complements and made some good suggestions. There was a lot of interest in continuing to cover advocacy and news as well as reviewing bike routes and providing maintenance tips. Safety, tips for the novice, and women & cycling were also popular. Look for more of that in the coming months.

Thanks again for participating and helping to improve Austin on Two Wheels.

I work right across the hall form Amy Dolejs, the winner of the Flashback. Just a few weeks earlier she told me about seeing one at Bicycle Sport Shop, and she mentioned that she’d love to have one. So the fact that she took the survey and won is just proof that the cycling fairies are at work. Good job, A2W!
