Friday Film Fun: Road Racing season begins

Earlier this week, Versus, the cable channel that covers the Tour de France, released its coverage schedule for the 2010 pro racing season under the hyperbolic name “Epic Cycle”. In addition to the TdF, we’ll be getting classics such as Paris-Roubaix and Liege-Bastogne-Liege in addition to some not so classics like the Tour of Oman. Unfortunately, it looks like they are limiting themselves to ASO managed events on the European calendar so once again there will be no Milan-San Remo or Giro d’Italia (though Universal Sports may pick the Giro up again.) Coverage begins this weekend with the Tour Down Under. I guess we can thank Lance Armstrong for the return of a fuller coverage schedule.

Speaking of Big Tex, his new squad Team RadioShack (or just “The Shack” for all you cool kids) put out this clever clown car video introducing the new team.

A little closer to home, the central Texas road racing season kicks off at the end of the month with the Tour of New Braunfels. Check out the Texas Bicycle Racing Association (TxBRA) site for more of the racing calendar. Of course, if you still have some need for cyclocrossing, the last big race of the season will be held this weekend at the Lonestar Cyclocross Series, which will also serve as the state cyclocross championship.
