Austin Bike Summit this weekend to plan what’s next for bike advocacy

The first Austin Bike Summit will be held this weekend to bring all parts of the cycling community together to plan for what’s next in bike advocacy. The summit is hosted by the League of Bicycling Voters, Yellow Bike Project, Austin Cycling Association, and Bike Texas.

Registration is free and all are invited.

Friday, April 9th, 2010

6:00pm-7:00pm Kick-Off Ride
Meet at Pfluger Bike/Ped Bridge, over Lady Bird Lake, near Lamar Blvd.

7:00pm-11:00pm Opening Reception
Bike Texas Headquarters, 1902 E. 6th St. @ Chicon St.

    I hope this morning’s news about the bikeless boulevard shows what a waste of time these flytrap-like planning exercises are – they can be and inevitably are ignored by the city council whenever it suits them.
