This Saturday, Austin on Two Wheels will hold our Taste of Downtown Tour, the first in a three part social ride series called Discover the City on Two Wheels. The ride will include stops at three great downtown restaurants to sample some of the best locally made food our town has to offer. Plus we’ll have some great Dutch and cargo bikes to test ride and will be having a drawing from participants to give away an Electra Amsterdam Royal.

All the food and drink, guides, and bike valet are included in the tour. If you register before Saturday, you save $5 and if you register with a friend, you’ll save $5 more! The weather this weekend looks to be perfect so we hope you’ll join us for this fun, laid-back ride.

About the ride

We’ll start at our ride host BoConcept at 430 W 2nd St in the 2nd Street District and head to Chupacabra for some Tex-Mex and Margarita samplers. Then we’ll ride to Frank for some artisan sausages finishing at Halcyon Coffee House for coffee and desert before returning to BoConcept. Total ride distance approximately 8 miles round trip. All food and drink samplers are included in the ride as well as coupons for future visits to our host restaurants.

DATE: Saturday, April 10, 2010

TIME: Meet up at 1:30 PM, Leave at 2 PM (please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to departure for check-in). Ride will end at BoConcept at approximately 5 PM.

LOCATION: BoConcept, 430 W 2nd St (map)

COST: Before ride day $15/person, Ride day cash only registration $20. Bring a friend and save $5! 2 persons registration: $25, Ride day cash registration $35. (Ride is limit to 75 riders.) REGISTER HERE.

OTHER INFO: Please bring a bike in working order. Our ride guides will have spare tubes and basic repair equipment should you run into trouble. In addition to food and drink on the tour, bottled water will be available to participants. Please bring ID if you plan to sample alcoholic beverages at the stops. Staff will watch bikes at each stop so locking bikes will be optional. If you are in need of a tune-up, please check with our bike shop sponsor Bicycle Sport Shop at least three days before the tour.

About the series

These rides are part of the test for a new concept bike store in Austin dedicated to the simple pleasure of riding with friends, not competition or workouts.We will be offering three exceptional social rides in April that highlight the best of what Austin has to offer:Taste of Downtown Tour, Pampered Pedal Ride, and Boggy Creek Farm Picnic Ride. In addition to these unique rides, we will have some great Dutch bikes and cargo bikes to test ride while you’re there.
