This notice is in from the City of Austin regarding portions of the Hike & Bike Trail being closed on Sunday, July 4 in preparation for the city’s firework display that evening.
Beginning at 10 am on Sunday, July 4, 2010, portions of the hike/bike trail will be closed for public safety while fireworks preparations are taking place for the annual 4th of July fireworks.
Detour – joggers/runners: users should utilize the upper trail area along Cesar Chavez from the Seaholm structure to the Buford Tower where they may take the ramp down to the trail just before Congress Avenue. Shoal Creek Trail users should detour to Sandra Muraida/BR Reynolds or 1st street for connections to the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail

CLOSURES:
Closure time: 10 am until approximately 12 midnight.
The lower portion of the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail between the Seaholm intake structure until just east of the 1st Street Bridge (Buford Tower Area).
The Shoal Creek trail will be closed at the intersection of the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail.
Crossing from the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail to the Lance Armstrong Bikeway and Shoal Creek Trail will have to be made by crossing Cesar Chavez.
