Vote Early now through Friday, October 29 or Election Day, Tuesday, November 2
Due to my day job, updates to A2W might be a little sparse for the next week or so. Along those lines, Early Voting for the November 2 Election began on Monday and runs through Friday, October 29. During Early Voting, you can vote at any of the polling locations and all you need is your voter registration card, birth certificate or a photo ID. If you wait until Election Day, you have to vote in your precinct.
On the ballot for Austin voters is Proposition #1, a mobility bond package. This is one of the most balanced packages to come out of the City of Austin with a sizable chunk of money dedicated to bike paths, bike lanes, and sidewalks. It also includes the completion of the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail loop with a boardwalk on the south side. There is more information on the City of Austin bond proposal site and in this video:
Austin on Two Wheels encourages you to vote FOR Proposition #1. Of course, the road warriors have come out of the woodwork to oppose this bond since there is not enough for cars, but I think their arguments can be summed up in this hilarious video made by my friend and fellow political consultant Mike Blizzard.
(EDITOR NOTE: I am not employed by or consulting for any person or political committee working FOR or AGAINST Proposition #1.)

I like the shark fin…slowly circling…in the lava pit. And I liked the video your friend made too.
Go Prop 1!

To the critics who complain too much of it is downtown: we get much more bang for the buck fixing the high density, high traffic areas.
Fixing sidewalks and bike paths also gets more people off the road so you can drive your stretched hummers without halving to worry about the 3 feet you already feel robbed of.
