A couple weeks ago, we let you know about a public art project the Austin Yellow Bike Project is working on called Raise the Rex. The project to be installed at their new headquarters on Webberville road will be a kinetic sculpture of a Tyrannosaurus Rex riding a bicycle and will be completely wind driven. If you missed the fundraising party to help with this project, you can still donate and check out a really great computer generated video of the sculpture on their Kickstarter page.
They need to raise $2500 in the next 10 days to meet their goal and you can contribute as little as a dollar (though $20 or more will get you a sweet Raise the Rex T-Shirt.) With Kickstarter, none of the donors get charged for their donation unless they reach their goal. Help ‘em out!

Looks neat, but $2500 for that? Seems like they’d likely have a better use for that much money …

Doug, I don’t think $2500 for an artist to produce a sculpture is a lot of money. I think it is a sign of the economic strength of YBP that they can put together such a cool project.
