It’s cold. It’s frickin’ cold alright. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still ride your bike, right?

Last week I joked on Twitter that I didn’t need this video because I lived in Austin. Well, turns out I needed it today. I had to take back the Christiania box bike I was reviewing to Austin Bikes. I smartly put on long underwear and used a long scarf to keep my cheeks and nose warm. The best advise I got from the video was the use of wrap around glasses. The wind was drying/freezing my eyeballs and my cycling glasses were a saver. I stayed relatively toasty with one exception: socks. Without thinking, I put on some thin dress socks, and by the time I got home I had toe-cicles!
At least we don’t have to worry about snow plows filling up the bike lane with mounds of snow like they do in Toronto. Otherwise we’d need one of these bad boys!
Of course in more civilized counties, citizens do not have to resort to DIY lawn mower conversions:
