Whole Foods Market Downtown adds bike repair stations

Yesterday, I had a meeting at Whole Food Market Lamar in advance of a very exciting announcement on Austin on Two Wheels tomorrow.

While I was there, I noticed that there is additional bike parking and now two repair stands at the Lamar entrance. Included with the equipment is a bike pump, allen key set, and all manner of wrenches.

While we focus a lot on large facilities like bike lanes and bike boulevards, these are the kind of small things that make facilities more welcoming to cyclists and are equally important. I’m glad to see Whole Foods Market add this to their store and hope it is a model for others.

Love it and I’d love to see more of this from other retailers. The cost is probably pretty low. But the impact on welcoming bicycles is huge. I love it when a business comes out and practically screams “I want you here”.

I am curious how you put your bike on the stand. Maybe it’ll be more obvoius when I see it in person.

    Ben,
I’d hook my saddle on the top bar if I needed to get the bike off the ground.

You’d think people wouldn’t lock their bike on this thing… it sure would be easy to swipe a part considering every tool you need is attached to it!
