Photos from Taste of Downtown #1- 3/5/11

Last Saturday, we kicked off our Urban Living Ride series with the Taste of Downtown #1. The ride is one of 16 rides we are producing in partnership with The Austin Chronicle, Bicycle Sport Shop, and Whole Foods Market dedicated to the simple pleasure of riding with friends.

The Taste of Downtown #1 was hosted by Austin Java at City Hall and had stops at The Tavern, How Do You Roll?, Gonzo Juice, and Skinny’s Ballroom. Here are some photos from the ride.

All our rides are fully staffed and include bike vallet.

We also provide Dutch bike rentals if you or a friend need a bike.
The rides are fully guided with a fun crowd.
And our ride participants look good on a bike and so can you!
Most importantly, the food is REALLY good. (Our stop at How Do You Roll?)

Car-Free Living Class
Tuesday, March 22, 5:30 PM, Bicycle Sport Shop Central, 517 South Lamar Blvd

Do you want to reduce your dependence on your car? Tired of the high costs and hassle of car ownership? Car companies sell car ownership as freedom but in truth we usually end up with empty wallets and dependent on automobiles for our most basic needs. What if there was a way to improve your finances and your health with a simple change in your life? It’s easier than your think.

Austin on Two Wheels presents four chances this spring to help you kick the car habit for a better life. Using a class format he developed while serving as the Founder and Executive Director of Austin CarShare, Texas’ first carsharing serivce, A2W editor Elliott McFadden will help you discover the tools and resources available in Austin that will allow you to reduce your car use, become a one-car family, or even go car-free. We’ll play some fun games and end the class with some real world planning to put your Low Car Diet into effect.

Everyone who registers for the class will receive a copy of How to Live Well Without Owning a Car by Chris Balish, a well written, funny and practical companion guide to fine living without a car.
