Earlier today, I mentioned that San Antonio is getting its own bikeshare service starting this weekend. Bikesharing has been embraced in several Spanish cities with impressive results. According to City of Seville reports, cycling as a share of the transportation mix has grown from 0.4% to 7% in just five years. That’s the equivalent of Houston turning into Portland in five years. Their bikeshare program and the creation of protected bike lanes are credited with this amazing turnaround.
