The Austin City Council election is coming up on May 14, and with so many bike projects potentially in the works in the coming years, it will be an important election for Austin cyclists. Today, the League of Bicycling Voters announced its endorsements:
Place 1: The LOBV enthusiastically supports Chris Riley. In Place 1, Chris is the candidate who has best demonstrated that he truly understands bicycling advocacy and its challenges.
Place 3: The LOBV supports Randi Shade. While we recognize that Shade’s overall environmental performance can be improved, we recognize her solid support on all bicycle-related issues during her term. We respect the credentials of her rival Kathie Tovo and look forward to her eventual service on the council. But in this race we will stand behind Randi Shade’s experience on the council and her record of support for Austin cyclists.
Place 4: The LOBV strongly supports Laura Morrison, who has reliably supported bicycling in Austin during her first term on council. We look forward to another term of working with her.
Early Voting for the May 14 election is Monday, May 2 to Tuesday, May 10 and you can vote at any early voting location in town. The polls will be open on Election Day, Saturday, May 14 from 7 AM to 7 PM and you must vote at your precinct voting location. To vote, all you need is a voter registration card, driver’s license or any official photo ID, birth certificate, United States citizenship papers or passport, a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement or other official document that shows the name and address of the voter.
