Friday Film Fun: Cycle Chic

Cycle Chic is a movement started by such sites as Copenhagen Cycle Chic and Amsterdamize to show fashionably dressed people on bikes in order to, as Copenhagenize’s Mikael Colville-Andersen says, “show the bicycle as part of the Good Life.” Spandex, helmets, and logo bestrewed bikes are out. High heels, suits, and simple, upright Dutch bikes [...]

APD closes net on another high end bike theft ring

UPDATE: KXAN is reporting Austin Police arrested Jesus Salazar-Gonzalez and Jose Mendoza in the sting. The video had a cursory pan of the bikes (which did not appear that high end.) We’ll see if we can get more details on the bikes. ——– Had a bike stolen recently? Read on. It’s been a few years [...]

Lucky

I am a very lucky guy. This morning I awoke to the smell of pancakes. “Nice!”, I thought, but it got better when I saw the pancakes my wife had made: In addition to the bicycle pancakes shown, she also made dinosaurs, pinwheels, trains, and the Eiffel Tower. Lucky indeed!

UPDATE: For whatever its worth, here’s the condensed definition of Fred from Wikipedia: Fred is a derisive term used by “serious” road cyclists to describe other cyclists who [...]

We’ve had presidents, movie stars, landmarks, and even Cabbage Patch Dolls but finally bicycles will be gracing U.S. stamps next year. The U.S. Post Office announced a new series of Forever Stamps for 2012. In an attempt to cover every cycling clique in one 4-stamp series, the stamps include a child with training wheels, a [...]

The way non-drivers get treated

Every few months, I get an e-mail from a reader about how the police are cracking down on cyclists and how unfair it is. Usually, APD has ticketed someone for an actual violation of the law, like running stop sign or more recently failing to have brakes on your bike. Whether you think law enforcement [...]

The Tour de France may be making a dramatic end right now, but for today we’ll take a break from the racing to watch another Frenchman do amazing things on a bike. In this Vegas style show, French mime trickster and Bill Irwin look alike Serge Huercio tries out his latest fixed gear tricks under [...]
