Does Fred equal Poser?

Just saw this question posed over at BikeForums: Is a Fred also a Poser?

Is this guy a Fred, a Poser or both?

Is this guy a Fred, a Poser or both?

What do you think?

Are they mutually exclusive or one and the same?

UPDATE: For whatever its worth, here’s the condensed definition of Fred from Wikipedia:

Fred is a derisive term used by “serious” road cyclists to describe other cyclists who do not conform to serious road cyclists’ norms with regard to dress and equipment, and appear amateurish to them. The term is generally reserved for men, while the female Fred is sometimes called a Doris or a Wilma.

The exact qualities that define one as a “Fred” vary widely among regions and cyclists. The earliest two definitions used for the term are actually completely contradictory.

Oh, great — so everybody’s been looking at me exercising on my crappy 1993 hybrid and calling me a Fred?

I think it is important whether you care what others think. If you skulk away when someone calls you a Fred, then you are a Fred. If you proudly embrace your alternative to the “serious” road cyclists norm, you are a visionary.

I think this reply from the thread says it all:
