Tuesday night off road series starts with Ladies Night

Tonight is the season kickoff of The Peddler Dirt Derby now entering its 5th season of dirty fun. The weekly Tuesday night affair offers a lighted course for short course mountain biking and cyclocross at the Del Valle Motorcross. The guys at the Derby are kicking it off in style with a Ladies Night for the opener: all ladies and guys who want to go cross to race cross get their entry for free! Members of the Texas High Mountain Bike League also race for free and as do all entrants in the Kids Race. The beginner races are $5, all others are $10 with second races for only $5 and no racing license is required.

If you are doing any of the TXBRA cyclocross races, this is a great chance to race yourself in to shape, and starting next week Austin on Two Wheels will be hosting a beginner cyclocross clinic for those new to cyclocross or wanting to improve their general skills. The Derby is a friendly, laid back atmosphere and a nice way to clear the pipes mid-week.

The Schedule

This year, the Dirt Derby schedule has changed a bit with the intermediate MTB and cx races split and the open category starting a little later. Races will be every Tuesday, September 27- December 13 and then in 2012 January 10 to February 14

6:15 PM Kids Race
6:20 PM Beginner Race Intro Lap
6:30 PM Beginner Race (20 min)
7:00 PM B Short Track MTB (25 min)
Intermediate, Masters & Single Speed classes
7:30 PM B Cyclocross (25 min)
Intermediate, Masters & Single Speed classes
8:05 PM Open Short Track / Cyclocross (30 min)
9:00 PM Gates Close

Registration closes 10 minutes before each race. You can save some time before you head out by downloading and filling out the waiver. Once you’ve filled it out once, it’s good for the whole season.

Cyclocross racers start one minute behind Short Track MTB, use slightly different courses, but everyone finishes on the same lap.
