Friday Film Fun: Crime Riding

As reported by ATXBS, Austin.Candence, and Fox 7, one of our local bike shops, Austin Bikes, has been hit hard with a wave of burglaries with a loss of over $25,000 in four break-ins in recent weeks. Needless to say, these kinds of losses are hardly the thing a small local bike shop can easily [...]

Had a high end bike stolen in the last 6 months? Check this out

Yesterday, ATXBS reported on a questionable series of posts in eBay from a Cedar Park poster looking to bypass the eBay bidding to sell a bunch of high end bikes for a quarter or less their price. Jason was able to get some screen shots of the items before it was pulled down. If you’ve [...]

What will 38,000 cyclist on the streets of Austin every day look like

Things have been crazy busy the last few days with wrapping up our spring social ride series and beginning to plan for the next series, so I thought I’d share this video from the Budapest Critical Mass that Jason at ATXBS posted earlier this week. He made the point that the attendance at this ride [...]

Dell Lounge covers the Austin Texas Bike Polo Social Club

ATXBS just posted these video clips from the Dell Lounge series featuring our very own local Austin Texas Bike Polo Social Club which also includes a nice bit about Austin’s only fixed gear shop, Fast Folks. We’ve written about the club in the past, and you can join in on the fun Thursdays at 5:30 [...]

ATXBS back up and running

For those of you who read both A2W and ATXBS, I’m pleased to let you know Jason’s site is back up and running. It was hacked mid week, and through some enormous work, it is online again. The site has been moved to a more secure server so hopefully this won’t happen again. He’s in [...]

Video of aggressive driver on July Moonlight Cruise released

ATXBS recently reported on a driver who aggressively passed the group in the July Moonlight Cruise and eventually hit some of the cyclists in the ride. A local photographer on the scene caught the incident in this video. The driver fled the scene after striking the cyclists with his car, but police caught up with [...]

ATXBS adds aggregate listing of Craig’s List reported stolen bikes

Jason over at ATXBS has been bird dogging the bike theft situation in Austin for a while by breaking the James Clayton story and creating a Stolen Bike Registry. Now he’s stepped up again with a page that complies all the current stolen bike listing on Craig’s List in one place. Very cool. While we’re [...]

Wheels of Wonderland schedule and location change

Via ATXBS: the great Wheels of Wonderland performance being put on by the Austin Bike Zoo (read our review of it here) has had to change their schedule and location for this weekend: Saturday’s performance will be at their 91 Red River location and start at 6:00pm.

ATXBS has minor hiccup but still going strong

If you tried to visit ATXBS yesterday evening, you might have had some problems loading the site. Jason assures me that ATXBS is still going strong, and it was just a server problem. He’s planning on moving things over to a more stable server so that won’t happen again. Also, on that vein Jason releases [...]

March Critical Mass Ride Ends with tickets, arrests

After a long string of Critical Mass rides without major encounter with police, Austin Police were out in force on Friday arresting and ticketing Critical Massers for running red lights and “obstructing traffic.” Here’s a video encounter of APD arresting local cyclist and budding frame builder Nathaniel “Lurcher” Hill. So a car runs a red [...]
